9/11 Memorial Preview Site And Museum And Gift Shop!

This past week while visiting New York City my sister and I stumbled upon the 9/11 Memorial Preview, Museum and Gift Shop. I have mentioned in the past that when I lived in New York City I worked in the American Express Tower which is considered 3 WTC. This was less than a year after September 11th so ground zero was still just an empty hole that sometimes, still smoked. It was tragic and awful and everyday I sat looking out my office window knowing that the people who experienced that terrible day were those people milling around me at that moment and some never survived.

This Memorial Preview Site was really moving. It had a large time line located high up the wall with pictures and a minute by minute account of the attacks. There was a lot to see. I won’t give it all away, as this type of experience is so personal to your own situation. However I really wanted everyone to know about it.  It is located right next to ground zero.

The best part was however that the gift shop donates 100% of the money they receive (not just profit) to the memorial fund. I made sure to spend some money while I was inside and I walked away with a book and a key chain for my son Jason who collects them. My sister left with a book and a shirt.

You can check it out on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/911memorial and also on Twitter http://twitter.com/sept11memorial

Please visit the 9/11 Memorial Preview Site and make your donation to a cause close to our hearts. There is no charge to get in.

It was moving, and inspirational at the same time. I didn’t mind spending money there at all! Plus, the shirt I bought for Jake is a really nice shirt, it even washed nicely. I have not started the book yet. But I got home and promtly put my magnet on the fridge. I say we go back when the memorial is finished! It will be nice to see.

Once complete I hope this will truly be a place of healing.
