A Letter For Adam Baldwin: Why Adam, Why?

Adam+Baldwin+2 A Letter For Adam Baldwin: Why Adam, Why?

Everyone has that fantasy character, you know who I am talking about, the one where you close your eyes and they appear, sweeping you off your feet and taking you away from all of the crazy that is your life. For years now I’ve held the same love interest in my fantasies, Adam Baldwin, one of the stars of NBC’s Chuck and cult favorite Firefly.

Now I have to stop right here and say my husband is a wonderful, smart, clean cut and gentle man. I love this about him and would never do without it in a husband, but fantasy men, well, they are a different story.

There is soJayne+Tshirt A Letter For Adam Baldwin: Why Adam, Why?mething primal about the characters Adam Baldwin plays. Rugged sexiness, big guns in both the literal and figurative sense… He is brash, crude, single minded.

His character Jayne Cobb from Firefly is a big dumb lummox of a man who does not think with the brain between his ears, and is often the butt of everyone’s jokes without knowing it. My god (Jayne). You’re like a trained ape; without the training.”

His John Casey character is not stupid, but is definitely a, shoot to kill first, why ask questions at all? Kind of guy. He is gruff, straight-forward, cynical, and hard-edged.Casey doesn’t have a calm center. He has more of an angry center.”

So imagine my surprise when I accidentally stumbled upon a blog written by Mr. Baldwin, in which his true character shines through like a spotlight. Adam Baldwin is a political genius. He is opinionated, educated, articulate and has the audacity to prove points I could never agree with but hJohn+Casey+Chuck A Letter For Adam Baldwin: Why Adam, Why?ave no choice but to respect. Right there on Big Hollywood my fantasy was shattered.

No longer would Jayne Cobb lie down spouting obscenities while I watch the moonlight glint off his arm muscles, no longer would John Casey grunt his contentment as I admire his ass in the Buy More pants.

No, now I am left with the thought that he may turn around and try to talk to me about the health care reform. That is just not right. Why Adam? Why? Don’t you understand how important you were to me? How much I needed your raw animal sexuality to help me get through my days?

This is just another lesson learned. Don’t get to know more about your favorite celebrities. They are rarely who you expect them to be.

And one last word for Adam. Smart and Sexy? Its just not fair, choose one… wait, no, let me choose.

Adam Baldwin is an American actor from Illinois. He got his start playing Linderman in My Bodyguard. Credits include Full Metal Jacket, X-Files, Firefly and Chuck. You can learn more here.

I know – I read his blog as well and I'm like… actually he is a big dumb guy really. Ok at first I thought yeah he's smart, articulate and all that but when you think about it, when you really really think about it, what kind of guy thinks like that anyway? Anti Secularist, pro-Christianity, anti-political-reform, etc etc, thats not smart thats just dumb, and its funny too. Fantasy still intact.

Having met Adam, he likes to poke the hornet's nest in conversation just to see what happens :-) . I suspect some of what he's doing on his blog is precisely that.

I've witnessed him listen – really listen – to all and any points of view. And be generous and gracious with fans, spending over 6 hours signing at one event so that no-one was disappointed.

Still a BAMF and a MILF = no problem :-)

Xena thanks so much for defending Adam. I'm sure he is the greatest IRL. When someone has opinions that "loud" they are usually trying to get people riled up or at least start discussion. Good to know he is still a BAMF. Though I don't get the MILF, isn't that a "MOM".

He was by far the person I was most excited to interview at People's Choice but he wasn't there.

This article is funny and well written. However I'm not sure I'd call him a genius. I don't know if you realize this but your article has made it all over the web and people are even writing rebuttal articles about it. Either agreeing or disagreeing with you.

I'd love if someone could point me in the directions of those articles. Nothing like a healthy debate. I'm sure Mr. Baldwin would agree.

oh no, who called him a right wing douche bag? That is awful. I like the point behind this article. Let an actor "be who he is" because it is his true self. But at the same time, as far as fantasy goes, I can't help but think of Adam as Jayne and John. I have a strict rule about not getting to know celebrities since in my line of work I actually get to. I have said for about 2 years I never wanted to meet Adam even if given the chance. But once a chance made itself known I kind of got excited about it. I should have known better. Unfortunately Chuck was not nominated for any People's Choice awards. Which is sad, but maybe for the best. We do have a mutual friend apparently, Greg Grunberg. Grunny is active with MomTV and I have interviewed him twice.

Well I don't remember who it was exactly that called him a "right wing douchebag" I was just reading twitter comments and thought that was a bit below the belt really. I can see where Adam is coming from and how he comes to his conclusions. Even if I don't agree it doesn't mean he got it wrong as opinions are never right or wrong. As a result I did leave a couple of comments on Hunter Baker's website explaining why I think getting involved in religion is more than just accepting the ressurrection of Christ – because as you know when Adam Baldwin jumped to the defence of Britt Hume, it was all about defending his advice to Tiger Woods to turn to Christianity over buddhism, as he believes Christianity offers a different kind of forgiveness. I am in agreement there because it does and I think he's entitled to offer that sort of advice too, even as a person who is secular in thinking, I understand that to shut people up about religion is not the right way to go about it. Secularism isn't about shutting people up, its about giving everyone a say no matter what their religious convictions etc whilst at the same time giving respect to the laws and regulations of the land. It means separation of church and state, not that people can't give advice here and there or wear symbols or talk about what they believe. I happen to think Hunter Baker is very clever as well, but the end of Secularism is not going to happen.

Adam is lucky to have you cyber stalking him. You are by far the best cyber stalker on the web. I'm sure he realizes this is supposed to be funny and you'd never really expect him to keep his opinions to himself. People are stupid. I read on some other sites people think you are getting too upset over his blog. They don't know you at all.

I hate having to defend my humor. If makes it unfunny. No I am not upset about Baldwin's blog. I think it is wonderful that he has a passion that is his own. No I don't have problems telling fantasy and reality apart. I realize Adam is an actor and that Jayne or Casey are characters. And yes, people are stupid. We'll talk about this more on my show tonight.

Im tuning into your show tonight to hear about Adam. I'm sorry you lost a friend, that is never easy. By the way, watched your red carpet footage, you should be a journalist. You have a strong gift for gab.

Your show died on me. It was greta though. I love the cyber stalking Adam Baldwin thing. I tweeted him about you! I'm sure he'll realize it is all in good fun. If not then he is about as smart as Jayne.

Can I just tell you that I think you are one of the funnier mom style bloggers on the internet. I haven't seen your show but can only imagine how funny you are in person. Keep on. And I hope Adam follows you on Twitter.

“Adam Baldwin is a political genius. ” I’ve talked at length with Mr. Baldwin… and he is not a “Political Genius.” He’s a Ditto Head ho repeats nonlinear nonsense and sociopathic BS he hears from der Rushbo.
