Our life revolves around Spencer’s “snacks”. “I want a snack” is a common statement heard from about 7:30 AM till 8:30 PM. And we’d better hop to it or else he won’t be happy. It really gets frustrating and dictates half our day. If only there were a visual system to use in order to keep his cravings in line. But wait, there is! The Beanstalk Express Snack Time Survival Kit is the perfect tool to be sure Spencer knows exactly when it is time for a snack and allows him to choose the snack ahead of time.
The way Beanstalk Express Snack Time Survival Kit works is you have your child choose 3 snack from about 15 index cards provided. Then you set three small faux clocks which hang underneath a real clock so they always know when it is snack time. We hang our Snack Time Kit in the kitchen and let Spencer choose his cards the night before. At 3 years old it is pretty rare for him to decide the next morning that those snack aren’t what he wants. Then our clocks are set at 10, 2 and 4. Then with breakfast, lunch and dinner he is grazing on a great schedule.
The Beanstalk Express Snack Time Survival Kit has really helped us. Of course sometimes Spencer wants a snack when it isn’t snack time and no amount of pointing out the clocks is going to help the situation, but he is three and this is to be expected. We did make one change though. We felt that many of the snack provided on the cards were unrealistic, at least for our family. Quesadillas and fruit and yogurt parfaits just weren’t going to happen in our busy life. So we made some adjustments and covered the cards with our own snacks. Simple things like string cheese and goldfish crackers. These are familiar items that make Spencer more comfortable as well. We do use plenty of the cards provided as there are 33!
Right now I’m giving away one Beanstalk Express Snack Time Kit! This is an easy giveaway. Just tell me 3 snacks your little one enjoys at home. Maybe we can help each other out with some great ideas!

Seriously, this is the coolest idea!!!!! I wish they had this when my kids were little.
Fruit, cheese sticks, crackers, baby carrots, cut up veggies, yogurt, sugar free ice pops… those are typical snacks in our home.
I enjoy fruit roll ups, carrot sticks and grapes.
I love that the scheduled snack times are the same times that Dr. Pepper used to advertise as the perfect time for a soda: 10am, 2pm, and 4pm. The really old bottles, probably from the ’40s or ’50s, used to say 10-2-4 on them, and I asked my mom what it meant.
