It was such a treat today to get a sneak peak of the Disney Collection by Vera Bradley. Honestly, I wasn’t overly familiar with the Vera Bradley brand. Of course living in Florida I see the bags in every store I walk into, but I had never really researched them. When I was invited to this event at The World of Disney store at Downtown Disney Marketplace I actually thought I was going to meet Vera Bradley. Oh, so little did I know.
The company was actually co-founded and is still run today by Barbara Bradley Baekgaard , Vera’s daughter. She began making bags for her daughter’s when they went off to college and the bags were a huge hit with all their friends. After making bags for their friends it was decided maybe she should kick it up a notch. She asked her mother Vera, who she deeply loved and respected, if she could name the company after her. Vera Bradley was started on $250 and has never really had a slow moment since. One of the stories Barbara told that resonated with me was that she had to figure out how to get a Social Security card to start her business, because in her day you didn’t get one when you were born. My Grandfather has a similar story and he passed away a few years ago. When I heard her telling this story it made me tear up a bit because it just reminded me of him.
The Disney Collection by Vera Bradley is absolutely colorful and classy. The best part is that the two color options are completely different so there is something for everyone or even better, two bags to adore all for yourself. The Mickey and Minnie’s are really subtle which surprised me, I guess I expected a bit more Disney, but that is the part that keeps it classy. It doesn’t look like tourist memorabilia it looks like a really classy Vera Bradley bag.
The first bag is the Pink fabric called Just Mousing Around. On Just Mousing Around you’ll find a bubble gum pink background with whimsical cartoon like flowers of all colors and old school Mickey Mouse in his red shorts and old school Minnie in her blue polka dot skirt and red hat.
The second bag is the Black fabric called Midnight with Mickey. On Midnight with Mickey you’ll find a Black background with impressionism/tribal looking flowers with hidden Mickey heads strewn throughout and a sweet old school Mickey and Minnie cuddling up together throughout.
The bags will be a huge hit on September 21st when the doors open to customers at Wonderful World of Disney at 7:30 AM and will only be sold at the Disney Parks in Florida and California and in late October Disney Online.
So tell me, which color do you think you’d find yourself buying?
*I attended a media event for Disney Collection by Vera Bradley but all opinions are my own.
