Are you looking for some interesting summer titles to get rid of the “Mom I am bored” ‘s? If so check out these great titles from Downtown Bookworks: The Lonely Sock Club, EYE Q Picture Puzzler, The House That Mouse Built and The Do It Myself Kids’ Cookbook.

Is your little one a craftaholic? If so check out The Lonely Sock Club. Made with 100% Recycled or Recyclable materials The Lonely Sock Club is a fun kit to assist you in finding what to do with all those single socks you keep hoping one day the Sock Monster will return its mate. The 64 page book comes with multi-colored pompoms, googly eyes, felt squares and 3 skeins of yarn to help you create fun sock crafts.

I love puzzles. With EYE Q Picture Puzzler your child can check out 24 fun puzzles with hundreds of challenges. The book also comes with a wipe-off marker with eraser to aid in all the fun riddles and treasure hunts throughout the book. This book makes an awesome addition to any Road Warrior kit.

I like giving books as gifts. The House that Mouse Built is one of those books that will have your friends raving about how you are the perfect gift giver. This delightful picture book has some of the most beautiful photographic work I have ever seen. Each scene is created by Maggie Ruby who has been making mice and their intricate worlds come to life out of scavenged materials and felt for twenty years. Each picture is almost overwhelming to look at with the incredible details. The pictures are paired with this sweet simple love story by Pam Abrams about a mouse named Musetta who steals Mouse’s cheese and then his heart. It kind of choked me up reading it the first time and solidified the notion that this book definitely belongs in every child’s library.

If you have read my posts before you know that my daughter wants to be a chef. The Do It Myself Kids’ Cookbook features 45 recipes that a child can do completely by themselves. No sharp knives and no hot objects. Each recipes features step-by-step fully illustrated directions to create fun kid friendly dishes. There is a parent’s prep section that outlines the basic things needed to set your child’s work area up and what to buy so that they can truly sit back and relax while their kids do the work. My 2 oldest children had a blast making these recipes together. They sat at the kitchen table for 40 minutes slathering peanut butter on apples, building towers and then eating them.

I would choose Thurn the Key: Around Town – perfect board book for my little granddaughter — she still likes to grab at the pages – better that they are board & not paper!
