Fathers Against Drunk Driving & Breathometer Device Review And Giveaway!

Breathometer, Fathers Against Drunk DrivingAs parents, we never stop worrying about our kids and their safety. When they are little, we are there to pick them up when they fall. We put training wheels on their bikes and make them wear helmets when roller-skating. When they turn the corner and become adults, relinquishing some of that control can be hard, but we have to let them spread their wings and just trust we did our best to teach them right from wrong. One of the most important lessons we can teach our young adults are the dangers of drinking and driving. Breathometer has teamed up with FADD (Fathers Against Drunk Driving)  to help prevent people from driving under the influence.

Driving while under the influence of alcohol is no laughing matter. It’s a serious problem that kills millions of people each year. Last year Breathometer made its big debut on the highly rated television show Shark Tank where all 5 investors opted to invest in this wonderful company. The Breathometer is the first device ever made that pairs with an app on your smart phone. You simply plug it in to the audio input and open the Breathometer application. Once the devise is calibrated, you blow into a small hole for 5 seconds. The app will then tell you your blood alcohol level and whether it is safe and legal for you to drive and at what time, if you stop drinking, you will be safe to drive. Simply put, the Breathometer is amazing!

FADD Breathometer

I lost my own mother to a drunk driver when I was 4, I know how catastrophic it can be as a victim. When I was told that FADD was endorsing the Breathometer I knew I had to have one to give to my son. Breathometer is so true to the cause that they have recently made a onetime donation to the FADD foundation and have begun a one year promotion to also donate a portion of the proceeds from every Breathometer unit sold through FADD programs.  FADD will exclusively use the Breathometer with its ongoing community awareness and youth engagement initiatives. As part of the partnership, Breathometer CEO Charles Michael Yim will join the board of directors for FADD.

I was able to try my Breathometer a few times this past month. Although I’m not much of a drinker, everyone around me was excited to try it. I appreciated how easy it was to use. I loved that the Breathometer was versatile and could be use by anyone (not just me) and I that you don’t actually put your mouth on the device (no sharing of germs with strangers at the bar, unless you want to that is). I thought it was extremely accurate in its readings and most of all I that everyone around me who tried it was quickly aware of how dangerously close to a DUI they were when they were sure that they were “fine”.

Jake is about 8 months shy of turning 21; this is both exciting and terrifying to me. I have always stressed to him that he should never drink and drive and that he should never get in a car with friends if they have been drinking. The Breathometer is the perfect 21st birthday gift and at just $49.99, you can’t beat the price. For more information check them out on Facebook and Twitter.

Right now Breathometer is giving one of my lucky readers a Breathometer devise of their very own to help spread awareness about their partnership with FADD.
