It’s rare that My Sentiment ExactLee does a story on something or someone local. Reason being that our readership is more National and we strive to bring you advice for products readily available to the majority of you. However, there is that occasional exception to the rule when someone or something really stands out. I met Jean Lachet when I was looking for someone to take Jake’s Graduation portraits. A mutual friend recommended Jean Lachet Photography to us as I wanted something special and not your run of the mill studio pictures. Jean Lachet Photography is located in the suburbs of Chicago and she is so unbelieveably talented, I felt I needed to share her with the world.
Jean was an award winning photojournalist with the Chicago Sun Times and has over 25 years of experience. She has a way of capturing her subjects in their natural state. Jake is a really shy kid, it’s hard to break that shell. Jean captured moments with him that aren’t staged but represent his personality. She did such a great job, I started recommending her to friends for weddings and they too have been so happy with the pictures that reveal the genuine happiness of the day.
When Jake graduated this June, I asked Jean if she would take a family portrait for us, something we have never done before. It was a challenge because it was a sunny and hot day in Chicago and we were dealing with my father who is in a wheel chair and my two young nephews (kids are so hard to take pictures of). Jean Lachet was wonderful; she took hundreds of pictures, some posed and some we didn’t even know she was shooting. We were thrilled with the final product and I now have a 16×20 portrait of my entire family hanging in my dining room that I consider a valuable piece of art.
