Kon-Tiki Starring Gustaf Skarsgard
There has been quite a bit of buzz lately about a Norwegian movie called Kon-Tiki about a man named Thor Heyerdahl. Heyerdahl along with 5 other men built a balsa wood raft and sailed across the Pacific ocean to prove that South American already back in pre-Columbian times could have crossed the sea and settled on Polynesian Islands. Why they did this is a mystery to me, so obviously we need to see the movie which is supposed to be making it towards us in the States nearly April 26th.
My big reason to see the movie however is Gustaf Skarsgard. So if you thought Stellan Skarsgard had a lot to offer back in Good Will Hunting and recently in Avengers you weren’t wrong. But maybe you weren’t up to speed on his best talent which is blessing the world with beautiful sons. First we have Alexander, best known as Eric Northman from True Blood fame, he’s wonderful and quite sexy. But now we’ve been introduced to the highly talented Gustaf Skarsgard, my current favorite of the family. He’s been made famous by the hit show Vikings from History Channel.
Gustaf’s character Floki is a ship builder Viking, ready to sail off with his leader to prove their Earl wrong any time. Sounds a bit familiar to the Kon-Tiki story line I must say. I guess we’ll have to wait and find out. Floki however is almost jester like in his role. I’ve often referred to him as the unemployed friend who is home on a weekday with a 6-pack and always available to talk to the news. He even wears eyeliner. When he talks it is in a high voice with much laughter. You get the feeling whatever drugs were available during these times, Floki was never lacking.
I’m waiting with bated breath for the movie to make its way to the Orlando area so I can see the similarities and differences between Skarsgard’s characters Floki and Bengt Danielsson. Though I must admit so far #1 Built a boat and #2 Sailed off to prove something kinda makes them a bit samey/samey going in. We’ll see though. Maybe he’ll become one of your favorite actors as he is mine!
Be sure to check out The Weinstein Company’s Kon-Tiki April 26 in select theaters. Also check out their Kon-Tiki Facebook page to see all the neat things that are available to fans such as the ability to visit the actual raft used in the voyage in different places throughout America and probably other countries as well.
