Thursday was a hard day. For the past 2 weeks I’ve been going over to my Grandmother’s house, where my Mother lives, to sit while my Grandma slowly passed away. Not sure exactly who I was there for, whether it was to support my mother who needed me. Whether it was to be there for my Grandmother who helped raise me and honestly all my cousins in some way or another and we were all very close to. Or if I was there for myself, to somehow try and soothe my own soul because my heart was breaking.

Either way, I told my Mom I needed one day off. My Grandmother was doing poorly but she had been doing poorly and I assumed she would continue doing poorly for a few more days. However around 9:30 in the morning my Mom called and said we had an “impending event” and I might want to hurry over. Now this wasn’t the first time I’d heard this so I didn’t take it 100% seriously. I did however tell her I’d get around and come over there. While I was in the car my Mother called to tell me the time of death was 11:10 AM. I took one morning off from sitting there and ended up missing my Grandma’s passing by less than 15 minutes. Needless to say my heart is broken but I’ll heal. It’s probably better I didn’t have to be there for that anyway. I did get to spend time with her body and say the things I needed to say.

Although her passing will be difficult I’m glad that my Mom can now start living a life again. She’s been cooped up in the house with my Grandma for years unable to really do much of anything with her Grandchildren which was a real cause of contention between us. Sunday is Sea World Spooktacular and my Mom will be joining us and we are all very excited.

There is a lot to look forward to coming up that my Grandma would have been interested in hearing about. She loved my Hollywood lifestyle. I think if she had still been young I would have had to take her with me on my travels. In November I’m traveling to Hollywood for the premiere of the movie Ingenious starring Jeremy Renner and Dallas Roberts. Well, that is as long as the producers can earn enough money on Kickstarter to get the movie into theaters. They need to raise 48,000 and right now they are less than 1,000 away. If you donate money in certain increments you can earn certain awards like the movie on DVD/Blu Ray, signed scripts, signed posters and even tickets to the premiere. Please check it out, every dollar counts! http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/529142360/ingenious-us-theatrical-release

This one will be for you Grandma. Every last little Jeremy Renner bit of it!

I am sorry for your loss, Lee. It’s hard when you lose someone who was such a big part of your life.

Condolences to your family… this will be quite an adjustment for your Mom too if she has been a caretaker for that long.

Praying God fills you and your loved ones up with strength during this difficult time. Sending my biggest hugs and warmest condolences.

It’s such a blessing that you were able to be there with your mom and grandmother as the end neared. I’m sure they both appreciated your being there, even if your grandmother couldn’t express it. And I do know how wearing it can be to the caregiver to watch someone they love slowly die; my mother took care of both her parents and my dad, and it drained her. I pray for your family to find joy in your memories of your grandmother as you go forward and make new memories together.
