Naughty & Nice Holidays At Universal Orlando Resort
Let’s face it, in Orlando the temperature is usually 90+ degrees even in December. This makes it hard to get into the Christmas spirit. However Naughty & Nice Holidays At Universal Orlando Resort does their best to help cool down the heat and crank up the Holiday fun. Whether you visit Islands of Adventure to see the Grinch or Universal Studios Orlando for the Macy’s Parade and Mannheim Steamroller you’ll find that Holiday cheer.
On a recent press trip down the road from my home in Apopka, I visited Universal Studio’s Islands of Adventure for the annual Grinchmas events. The best part of course being The Grinchmas Wholiday Spectacular. This is a stage production fit for Broadway placed right in the middle of Central Florida. Watch as sweet Cindy Lou Who tries to warm the Whoville patrons to the foul Grinch. When that doesn’t work she decides to try and warm the Grinch’s heart. Through a lot of snarky humor played off perfectly by the talent at Universal Orlando the Grinch Who Stole Christmas is told to perfection.
If you are in the mood for some Who Hash make reservations for Character Breakfast With The Grinch & Friends. Numerous Dr. Seuss characters will come visit your table to take pictures with you and your children as you dine upon delicious breakfast fare. Prices are $24.99 per adult and $10.99 per child.
Macy’s Holiday Parade
Across the parks over at Universal Orlando leads us into the loving pink toenails of Happy Hippo! Happy is a recreation of a Macy’s balloon that flew in the 30’s and 40’s over New York. She now has a little more junk in the trunk, a pretty bow and eyelashes and pink toenails. She’s so pretty and feminine! When you want a hippopotamus for Christmas, only this hippopotamus will do! She is a must see so don’t wait.
The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is forever popular in New York City. I lived in Manhattan for years and I hid out in my house to avoid those crowds, but some people traveled in just for this reason. If you can’t catch it in NYC, check it out in Orlando. All the different themed floats incorporate either Macy’s Parades from the past or Universal characters. It’s such a fun parade and I sing the song over and over for weeks on end. Make sure you get a spot early because they can be hard to come by.
Select dates in December welcome Mannheim Steamroller which is my favorite event during Naughty & Nice Holidays. Just sitting in the open air and listening to the orchestra can be enchanting. They aren’t the greatest selling Christmas artist of all time for no reason. There is power behind each chord they play, whether it be emotional or musical and usually it is both.
There are other Holiday shows as well such as A Barney Holiday for your little ones. Then grab a pair of sunglasses and get down with The Blues Brothers Holiday Show. They will make you shake it to songs such as Santa Claus Is Coming To Town played in their own unique way.
Most of all though, at each park, is the feeling of the season and the accompanied decor. The parks are simply festive and splendid in the Holiday glory. But don’t take my word for it, go see for yourself. The Holidays are in season until the 4th of January.
*I visited the parks while on an all expense press trip. Opinions are all my own. Yes, I really love Mannheim Steamroller and cry a bit when their music plays through the crowd. Don’t judge me.
