An Open Letter To The Weinstein Bros Regarding Silver Linings Playbook On DVD!

Dear Bob and Harvey,

You’re killing me.

Yes, this is a line you are probably quite familiar with seeing as it comes directly from the mouth of Tiffany Maxwell, your lead character in Silver Linings Playbook. Tiffany has at least two reasons to state someone is killing her in the movie, both of which are a bit dramatic but hey, that’s Tiffany. I figure Jennifer Lawrence wouldn’t be holding all those awards if the character were boring.

The reason you are killing me is the recent decision to release Silver Linings Playbook on April 30th. This decision is distressing as the Oscar buzz will be far forgotten and the movie will most likely have fallen from theaters weeks previous. It makes me think we will be without SLPB for possibly over a months time. Simply unacceptable, unfathomable.

I’m not quite sure you understand how much this movie has meant to people. I wrote a post entitled What Silver Linings Playbook Meant To Me and although many people were ashamed or embarrassed to comment publicly I was met with so many emails from people thanking me for my openness and sharing their own stories of struggle.

So I come to you and ask you to reconsider this release date and bring it closer to March so that we aren’t without our tragic characters for too long. If this movie has resonated so deeply with me, don’t you think there are a vast majority of people that don’t get out to theaters just waiting to see it in the comfort of their homes? Don’t make those people wait Weinstein Brothers, don’t make them wait.
