Ovaltine has healthy stuff in it. But don’t tell the kids. This was my sister’s way of thinking when my nephew was a little boy. She purchased another brand of chocolate milk, one that markets to kids instead of adults, and refilled it with Rich Chocolate Ovaltine for over 10 years. He never knew the difference, but his body did.
Mixed with 1 cup of skim milk Rich Chocolate Ovaltine contains between 20% to 40% of the daily vitamins and minerals that our bodies need. That is 12 vitamins and minerals essential to our health. In my house that is a lot because my kids are terrible eaters and I know they need all the help they can get. We will be mixing it with rice milk because we steer clear of too much dairy, but I know it is still better than juice!
My son Spencer always wants a snack. A snack for him is gummies, candy, chips or something else equally as bad nutritionally. I do my best not to give him the unhealthy food but sometimes it is quick and easy. I’m going to try giving him Rick Chocolate Ovaltine and Chocolate Malt Ovaltine to see if this satisfies his sweet tooth in a healthier way. I’ll report back and let you know how it goes.
