Are you looking for a new workout that can burn up to 1,000 calories an hour and literally kicks butt? Well then stop what you are doing and check out Les Mills Combat brought to you by Beachbody. This workout will have you feeling strong and unleashing your inner warrior. With Les Mills Combat you will super charge your fitness level in as little as 60 days.
Les Mills Combat is a Mixed Martial Arts inspired program that uses dynamic moves from 6 martial arts disciplines. In this program they combine these 6 disciplines in different sequences set to inspiring and upbeat music all while the moves increase in intensity. The 6 disciplines used are Boxing, Taekwondo, Karate/KungFu, Capoeira, Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai/Kickboxing. The best about Les Mills COmbat is you do not need any formal marital arts training to begin the program and you don’t need to be in outstanding shape to get started. All that you need is a small living room space and optional dumbbells in order to be successful at this program.

I received the Les Mills Combat Kit that is sold for $59.98 (3 payments of $19.95) plus shipping. The kit includes the Basics DVD which introduces you to all the disciplines and walks you through the basic moves. There are 6 different workouts on 4 different DVD’s; Les Mills Combat 30 Kick Start, Les Mills Combat 45 Power Kata, Les Mills Combat 60 Extreme Cardio Fighter, Les Mills Combat 60 Live Ultimate Warrior Workout and lastly the 2 insane HIIT workouts Les Mills Power HIIT 1 and Shock Plyo HIIT 2. The kit also includes a Stay with the Fight Fitness Guide, and Eat Right Nutrition Guide. My favorite videos would have to be the HIIT workouts because they super intense!! I dread them so much especially the Shock Plyo. They kick my butt so bad but I feel really energized and whipped afterward. My favorite cardio tracks would have to be the track in the 45 Power Kata and the track in the Live Ultimate Warrior that have Capoeria integration. I really love the fluid triangular movements of Capoeria.
The program is instructed by 2 Master Trainers who for the last 14 years have been inspiring thousands around the world to kick and punch their way to fitness. They are Dan Cohen who is a former British Master Kickboxing Champion and runner up for the World Kickboxing Champion and Rach Newsham who is a graduate of the WMC Lamai Muaythai Camp in Thailand. I find them not even the least bit annoying which many video instructors are. They are fun, engaging and very motivating even over a DVD. I love that you get to see them sweat and be out of breath along with you. They are joined by an international team from such places as Malaysia, and Spain all of whom also sweat like crazy along with you.
I have been doing the program for about a month and a ½ and I have LOVED it. Results wise are mixed because so much of results has to do with your food intake. I lost 6 pounds the first month but so far for this month I have gained back 3 from going to hockey games and parties and everything in between. I know my body is stronger from the program especially my core and my cardio fitness. I feel that the program has helped me feel more confident in my Taekwondo training that I have been involved in for the past 8 months as well as in the MMA fitness class I take once a week.
I have religiously followed the calendar of workouts that is available in the Fitness Guide. The workouts can be quite challenging but there is a modifier in every video to help you dial it down but still keep up the calorie burn. I do follow along about 95% and modify about 5% of the time. Someday I will be able to do all those pushups from my toes but for now, the knees have it!
I would highly recommend this program to anyone interested in getting in shape via MMA training. The workout is intense but more importantly it is FUN! It would be a great workout for a couple to do as it appeals to men just as much as it does to women. My husband even joins me for workouts on Sundays. The program does have 2 upgraded kits. The first is the Supreme Warrior Kit which is 3 payments of $29.95 and this includes training gloves . The 2nd is 3 payments of $39.90 and includes 4 additional workouts: Warrior 1 Upper Body Blow Out, Warrior 2 Lower Body Lean Out, Inner Warrior Stretch and Core Attack. You can purchase this program and many other great programs such as the TurboFire program that you can read a review on here, at Beachbody.com or through a Beachbody coach. You can also keep up to date on what is going on with Beachbody through their Facebook page or via Twitter as well as checking out all their amazing videos on their YouTube page.
I plan to continue with another round of Les Mills Combat once these 60 days are up. I look forward to even better results the next 60 day cycle and think I will even do before and after pictures so I can get my free T-shirt! I will leave you with what Dan and Rach say at the end of every workout…. Keep it Real and Stay with the Fight!
