Recently I haven’t been sleeping real well. I equate it to getting older, but a friend of mine mentioned that it could be that the mattress on my bed is old and causing me to toss and turn all night. That never really occurred to me. This review is about how our new Sleepy’s Mattress Store helped me get a better night’s sleep by measuring me for the perfect mattress designed for my body type using proper spinal alignment.
A new Sleepy’s Mattress Store just recently opened in the shopping center behind my house and they were celebrating their Grand Opening Event. I walked in and immediately was approached by Betty. Betty was a sleep expert and was positive she could set me up with a mattress that was sure to be the perfect fit. We began with the perfect pillow. Apparently, the pillow you use every night makes a huge difference in how you sleep. The pillows of today are tapered to fit the back, side or stomach sleeper. They disburse heat so that your head stays cool; they are made of state of the art materials that conform to your neck and head optimizing your rest. Who knew?
Once I found the perfect pillow, Betty had me describe my bedroom furniture, most importantly my bed frame. I explained that I was indeed a pretty, pretty princess and my bed was extra tall with a stepping stool. I was not interested in changing the height of my mattress. Sleepy’s has an entire area dedicated to people just like me with all sorts of styles and firmness to choose from. Once we knew what I was looking for, Betty began the process of measuring me for my perfect mattress.
With my perfect pillow in hand I was asked to lie down like I was going to sleep normally. This is not easy in front of a group of strangers, let me tell you. I felt a little self-conscious about how I curl up each night with my arm under my pillow and my body strategically placed so that my cat can make himself comfortable in the curve of my legs. I typically don’t move once I’m settled in. I wake up each morning in the exact same place I drifted off. All of this makes a difference in the kind of mattress you sleep on. Betty had me try each of the beds labeled from firm to extra firm (I knew soft would not help my back). In the end, it was determined that I required an extra firm pillow with heat distribution and a nice tall pillow top medium firm mattress that felt like I was being cradled in the hands of God.
The combination of these two things was not cheap. However Sleepy’s prices were comparable to any sales price I had seen in the paper that morning and they have financing with low monthly payments. Betty made me a deal, finance the $3,200.00 mattress at $62.00 per month and she would throw in the 2 pillows at $160.00 each for free. Not a bad proposition for a piece of furniture that determines my overall health and mood.
I learned a lot about how important the right mattress is that day at Sleepy’s. Proper spinal alignment when you sleep is essential to a good night’s rest, which is the key to better health. The experts say you should replace your mattress every 7 years for optimal support. That could get a little costly for the average person, so a good rule of thumb is to look at your mattress. Is it sagging or lumpy? Do you wake up feeling aches and pains or tired? Do you sleep better when you are away on business than you do when you are home in your own bed? If the answer to any of these questions is yes, then it’s probably time to go to your nearest Sleepy’s Mattress Store for a new one. Tell Betty I sent ya!
