The Green Police. Friend Or Foe?

Green Police 300x170 The Green Police. Friend Or Foe?Last night during the Superbowl we were bombarded with a ton of new commercials. Many of them suffered from ineffective marketing tactics. But one stood out to many viewers and I’m not talking about the Tebow ad. The Green Police ad by Audi had people on Twitter riled up over…what exactly?

In the commercial a fake team of “Environmental Police” go around town reprimanding citizens for their crimes against our planet. Things like using incandescent lightbulbs, drinking out of styrofoam cups and choosing plastic bags in a grocery store. There was even an appearance by a pollutant sniffing anteater, though I’m still not sure what that was about.

The premise behind the commercial was to educate people on the damage we are doing to our planet. It was a satire and in no way meant to be taken seriously. You are not going to get arrested for throwing away your orange rind, at least not today.

However if in the future we do create some form of authority to reprimand crimes against our ecosystem would that be so bad? Are we thinking about tomorrow today? As the mother of 2 small children I can’t help but think about the world my great grandchildren will be forced to contend with if more people don’t start taking action.

I’d like you to watch the commercials for yourself and decide if it took part in some great offense. I always invite every one’s opinion on my blog and today is no different.
