Going up North to the cabin, my brother and me would always screw around in the backseat. This after awhile got on my dads nerves. He would try to reach his arm back to pull us up from the floor, he couldn’t reach, we laughed and laughed and laughed, until he pulled over.

    Sandy VanHoey says:

One of my greatest memories was just going to Disney and my grandson getting to see Snow White and she autographed a picture for him. He fell in love after that and would tell us she was his girlfriend. He ended up needing to get a Snow White doll which he still has and it was the day he fell in love, at 5 years old.

There is not one moment that stands out, but we have some funny memories from our family camping trip at a state park in Florida last summer…especially the antics of squirrels around the campsite…

  4. 4

We always enjoyed going to our aunt and uncle’s cabin. I loved fishing. I was the one putting the bait on all the hooks for my cousins.

    Lisa Brown says:

My family would always go to the lake during the summer months. One thing you could count on was the red ants being out in full force. You had to wear shoes or else suffer the consequences. Well, my sister, although she had on flip flops, could not avoid the bite – one red ant bit her toe and she screamed like a banshee. I know, this is not all that funny, but it is when you are a child and you did not get along, or particularly like, ones sister :)

I remember when we got soaked while at Sea World… gotta love the FL showers. Anyways, since we were so wet, but still walking around the park, my husband’s thighs were rubbing and starting to bother him. We all thought it was so funny because he looked like he was walking with a corn cob up his bottom because he was trying not to let his legs rub.

My funny one was the first time we took our oldest son to the beach he was 3 and was so excited to go but when we got to the ocean he was so terrified we had to leave and go to Orlando to sea world instead!

    Mary Happymommy says:

When my son was 4 he was very much into the characters from Monsters Inc. We went to Disney World and saw the characters Sully and Mike standing around for pictures and my son was terrified to see them in person. He refused to have his picture taken with them. His reaction was pretty funny.

We had been to Florida for a family vacation and it was a total disaster. I came down with a stomach illness, passed out in our condo bathroom and hit my head, and ended up spending the night in the hospital. My son was a baby at the time and he did not like being away from his mama at all. The night I was in the hospital, my sister-in-law walked him on the beach for hours while he wailed and cried. Then, to top it off, when we were finally driving home, we stopped at a fast-food drive thru for some food. As we got back on the interstate and took out our food, we realized that none of our burgers actually had THE BURGERS on them…it was just buns and condiments! We had to laugh at that funny ending to our awful vacation.

  15. 15
    Ashley C says:

My funniest is memory is our first trip with our son as new parents. That week my son puked on people, pooped on people, and learned how to be as messy as possible with his food!

  16. 16
    D Schmidt says:

My funniest memory is when my parents had planned this fantastic beach vacation that turned into a nightmare. On the first day we realized that the hotel was actually less than desirable so my parents at short notice managed to find a caravan to stay in. It then rained for the whole 9 days we were there and I managed to come down with Chicken Pox! That said it was fun just being a family.

It’s funny now but wasn’t at the time. We were in gatlingburg vacationing. We were walking through the hotel parking garage. As I walk past this van I look to my left and standing 10 feet away is a black bear! Oh my gosh did I freak out! lol

when I was about 5 yrs old I fell off our golf cart at the beach, my sister told my parents and they didn’t beleive her so they kept going, while i was just sitting there in the middle of the road, shocked that I fell off! my sister finally convinced my parents that I did actually fall off and they came back to get me, it wasnt funny at the time but now that I look back it’s hilarious

We went to Hilo for a family vacation while we were there, I told my hubby let’s go pick flowers in the forest (I make flower headbands from the flowers we pick). My hubby went in to the forest with a big black garbage bag but at the same time our 6yr old boy who’s first time picking flowers with us had to go to the bathroom, Hello! WE ARE IN THE FOREST THERE IS NO BATHROOM LOL. So I get one of the black garbage bags and tell my boy to do his business in there and we’ll wrap it up and toss it out, just as he is done, my hubby comes out with his big black bag filled half way with flowers…… but our boy says WOW he made a lot of dodo! That was hilarious and one of our funniest vacations!

On my family’s first trip to Disneyland my brother and I went on the Tower of Terror, which is one of those stomach-dropping drop rides. My mom didn’t know this, and we had her convinced that it was a ride she’d have a lot of fun on, even though we knew those were the kinds of rides she absolutely hated. Needless to say, watching her face when the ride started up was priceless!

First day of a month-long coast to coast car trip vacation and hubby (accidentally he says!) left me behind at a gas station. He drove over a hundred miles before he realized I wasn’t sitting next to him in the front seat. In his defense, it was dark. Our kids were sleeping in the way back of the station wagon, woke up after a while and asked where Mom was. The oldest saw a highway sign noting I-80 East instead of I-80 West toward our Calif. destination and he inquired of his dad why they were going in the opposite direction. Many years later we can laugh about this.

My sister and I did not like each other growing up and we would always find a way to get the other one in trouble, especially on trips. Back then seatbelts were not common. Before every trip (usually once a year to visit our grandparents in Wisconsin) our parents drew the imaginary line down the middle of the seat and all your stuff and body had to remain on your side or somehow a hand would come around and pinch your leg! The goal of course was to get the other one in more trouble. The best part is my sister and I are best friends now and have a lot of fun remembering what we used to do to make the other one pay with mom and dad.

I got talking to his mom and it turned out that she was the sister of my cousins husband. A cousin that I’m pretty close too. We became friends on that trip and remain good friends. Last summer my husband and I decided to take our boys camping. The first campground we chose was in a seaside resort area. The campsites were quite close to each other which we were not happy with, but for only one night we decided to deal with it. We pitched the tent and I went to blow up the airmattress. Unfortunately the ampage in the campground was not powerful enough to run the motor to blow the bed up so we had to do without. During the night my husband got hot so he opened what he thought was the window. Unfortunately, he opened the door and let an army of mosquitos in. Later in the evening a skunk decided to spray nearby and our neighbors had a love spat that resulted in their carlights and horn infiltrating our camp. Ugh. On top of that, a fog horn was sounding every 15 minutes until about 2am. The piece de resistance…we woke up to find that no only had my husband let mosquitos in, he had also let in an abundance of blood sucking ticks. Needless to say, we spent the next couple of nights in a cumfy hotel.

We went to ride one of the rides in the very back of the park and my parents realized they forgot to get cash (restaurants didnt take cards yet) so they sent me to the ATM. Because the park was so new they hadn’t installed any ATMs inside the park. Not realizing I went out of the park to get the cash. When I tried to get back in, I realized my parents had my park ticket. I had no way to get ahold of them. the cast members refused to let me back in and I was only 12, sitting outside the gate crying. finally I went to a relations office cried my eyes out, and explained my story and got back into the park over an hour later. when I found my parents my Mom was talking to a cast member thinking something terrible had happened to me. But now we laugh about it.

As a child, we went to Disneyland just about every summer. When I was four years old, I had a cute encounter with a dwarf. (I look a bit like Snow White with my dark hair and very fair skin.) One of the seven dwarfs saw me and immediately went over to a bench and pretend to be asleep much like Snow White. My dad caught on and brought me over. I gave the dwarf a kiss on the cheek and he “magically” woke up. I was fully convinced I had broke a spell with my kiss just like in the movie lol. My mom was able to capture the moment and it’s my favorite childhood pictures.

Whenever we went on vacation the place we were staying had a small farm not that far down the road. We were sight seeing, and then the owners said we could come on the farm and visit the animals. They let us go inside with the cows but forgot to warn us about their mean bull! We were walking then all of sudden we seen this bull charging at us as fast he could. We ran faster than we had ever ran in our lives! I just had that feeling that bull was going to get one of us! Thankfully, there was a wagon infront of us that we all jumped on, and the bull ran past us looking like the devil. My brother was in a different area recording the whole scene, and started to grin after he knew we were ok. It was scary as can be and definitely a near death experience, but now that we watch the footage back it’s hilarious looking at our faces and how fast we were running. I don’t think any of us will ever go back to another farm again! The people did apologize and said their oldest son was suppose to have put the bull in a different area then where we were.

We took our four kids to Sanibel Island in July. It was so HOT, and the day we left, we packed the van, loaded the kids, which included my 2-year-old son, and headed to the airport. Halfway to the airport, my son threw up all over me, to the point that even I was laughing as hard as my other kids. I had to laugh, it was really a bad scene…..he threw up in my hair, down my neck, my front, you name it.. We stopped at a gas station, and my husband found a sundress in the luggage, I changed in the bathroom, and then washed the baby from head to toe. Amazingly, everything he threw up landed on me…not a speck in the rental van!

I grew up as one of six kids and a lot of confusion to get every one ready to go at the same time. I remember leaving for vacation once and getting a couple of miles away when my mom noticed that one of my brothers was missing. We said he was still at home because we waved to him as we were pulling out. For some reason, my father found absolutely no humor in that.

We were on the highway somewhere in Kansas and 2 bags flew out of our luggage rack, my mom and I kept the head lights on in the car so we could find the bags, 2 semi trucks hit the bags and our stuff went flying all over the road. We had a lot of bad luck. So we get our stuff, what we could find of it and we got back into the car. When mom tried to start the car so we could go it would not start because we ran the battery out looking for our stuff on the highway. This nice biker named Charlie stopped and helped us get someone to jump the car and get us on our way. He also gave my mom some money. It was one heck of a trip and one that we will not forget.
