photo21 e1359088358975 Tuttorosso Tomato Products Review And Giveaway!Making homemade tomato sauce is a breeze when you start off with great ingredients like Tuttorosso brand products. Tuttorosso is an Italian word that means “all red” and that is what describes their tomatoes. They are picked at peak freshness to deliver to you the best tasting canned tomato product possible.

If you don’t recognize the name Tuttorosso then you will probably recognize Red Gold. Tuttorosso is owned by Red Gold which is a fourth generation family of tomato experts. Red Gold is a proud Midwestern company with 3 production plants. They have over 60 professional growers that far 13,000 acres of tomatoes that are all grown within an average of a 200 mile radius of their manufacturing facilities.

I received a can of Tuttorosso Crushed Tomatoes, Tuttorosso Tomato Sauce and a can of Tuttorosso Peeled Plum Shaped Tomatoes. I am going to be perfectly honest and say I have never made my own homemade tomato sauce. I was intimidated by my mothers and mother in laws great sauce. Yes, I know that comes at a shock but I have always just dumped a jar.

I went home for the holidays and my mother was making sauce and low and behold, she was using Red Gold tomatoes. I instantly recognized them since I had those cans of Tuttorosso sitting on my counter waiting for me to get home and make some sauce. Seeing my mom using Red Gold gave me the courage to try them out for this review. It was the perfect time to try my hand at it and I have to say it was so easy! I am definitely a convert.

In my sauce I used both the crushed tomatoes and the peeled plum tomatoes. The crushed tomatoes were a great consistence and I felt that they container was really dense with tomatoes which I liked. I hate watery cans. The peeled plum tomatoes were firm fleshed and were very fresh looking. They did have more liquid in the can obviously but it was basically tomato juice and went right in the pot. I did crush the peeled plum tomatoes in my hand before they made it into the pot. I did have to use tomato paste to thicken up my sauce, plus I like the richness of flavor tomato paste imparts. I just used a brand I found at my local store.
