So you’re coming out to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party 2016 and want some tips on how to make the most of your money. Sure, my tickets might be complimentary in return for my blog talk but we still try to get as much out of the Disney Halloween Party as possible. Read below to find out how the Allport family does it and then you’ll be pros too.
Here’s the deal, you can get into the park as early as 4pm and the event doesn’t start until 7pm. This gives you 3 hours of non Halloween time for rides. The wait times might be a bit long in comparison to what they will be during the special event, but other than eating dinner there isn’t much else you can do. Then, much later at night the ride wait times will go down to 20 minutes tops (often more like 5 minutes) and you can ride even more. But don’t waste Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party time standing in lines to ride the rides that will still be there at other times.
Boo To You Parade
First things first, make time for the Mickey’s “Boo To You” Parade because it’s the gem of the night. All the floats decked out with haunted goodness. The villains come out in full swing to entertain and it’s okay, they’ll play nice. This is my favorite parade followed closely by Festival of Fantasy. I recommend the last parade and if you read below I give you a tip on how and where to watch.
Next it’s time to make a decision. Is this the only chance you get to enjoy the parks or are you a semi regular? I say go jump on a few rides. The lines are much shorter than usual days and this gives you time to chat as a family. But don’t get greedy because later at night the lines will be next to nothing long.
Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular
Since this is brand spanking new, only one year young, it’s a must see. If your kids haven’t seen Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular be sure to catch them up before you go. Once you arrive try to get close to the stage which means putting in some extra time as each and every show will be busy. I recommend the second to last or last show so that you can fit the final parade in as well. That means 10:40 PM and then watch the parade or watch the parade and then watch the 12:00 AM show. But again, you won’t be the only one with this idea so putting in extra time is required. No worries though, you are allowed to be in the park as of 4pm. You’ll be ready to sit for a spell. A spell. I’m so funny.
Trick or Treat Locations
Jason says the Trick or Treat locations are his favorite part and I’d bet they were Spencer’s as well. All throughout the park in about 20 spots are huge barrels of candy. The lines sometimes look long but they move at lightning speed. I never waited longer than 5 minutes at the Disney Halloween Party for candy. Once you reach the front of the line the cast members are more than generous. If you want to jump right back in line feel free. This year you can look forward to favorites like Skittles, Starburst, M&M’s and Twix. If you have an allergy you can turn your candy into special treats safe for you. How smart.
You don’t have to grab a special spot for this show unless you want to take a load off. And if that is the case grab a free cup of ice water and eat some of your candy. But you can see the fireworks from most places in the park. I’ve caught them in Liberty Square and Fantasyland in the past. They are brilliant and you don’t want to miss them. This year we stood and watched a moment near Mine Train and then we rode the ride. We were able to catch the last 20 seconds on the ride which was a magical Disney moment.
