Holidays At Universal Orlando Resort 2012!
This year Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure rolled out the red carpet once again so that the local bloggers and media could experience Holidays at Universal Orlando Resort 2012. The festivities are always in full swing come December 1st with the Green Meanie (and I don’t mean the Incredible Hulk) acting as Emcee. We were treated to The Grinch, the Macy’s Holiday Parade and the magic of Mannheim Steamroller.
The Grinch is always treat. This time we had a personal meet and greet which lasted half an hour. Although many of the children were scared the Grinch took it easy on them while still remaining in his curmudgeonly character. Grinchmas itself is a full scale stage musical. They pull out all the stops. While you are watching the actors on stage singing and dancing you’ll notice that the background is actually straight from the original cartoon movie giving even further impression that you are all in Who-ville. It’s a can’t miss spectacular.
Macy’s Holiday Parade
Everyone dreams of visiting the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City, but let me tell you, I lived there and I avoided it like the plague. The traffic was a nightmare, there are no bathrooms, few places to actually get a good view, just a really difficult day to enjoy. How about instead of going through all that, you visit the Macy’s Holiday Parade at Universal Orlando? They have brought in actual balloons and floats from the original parade in NYC. Actually, the entire street is decorated with balloons you’ll recognize such as Curious George, everyone’s favorite mischievous monkey. At the end of the parade Santa assists in lighting the gigantic Christmas Tree. Get there a bit early for a good seat. I recommend getting as close to that tree as possible.
Finally my favorite part of the evening at the Holidays at Universal Orlando Resort is the concert put on by Chip Davis and Mannheim Steamroller. Did you know they are the biggest selling Christmas artist of all time? First they put out some Christmas tunes that you know and love, ensuring everyone in the huge audience is tapping their feet. After that they take part in the dramatic reading of The Grinch with the actors from Grinchmas which I mentioned earlier. It’s very emotional and you will most likely tear up so bring tissues. Then they end the concert with more hits and it isn’t all Christmas tunes. You might just want to get up and dance.
Holidays at Universal Orlando Resort 2012 were exactly as to be expected, which is wonderful. The parks offer a lot more Christmas enchantment so be sure to visit Universal Orlando Resort Holiday Events to learn more. But hurry, events only last until January 1st.
