On my way to cruising with the bloggers this past month myself, Jessica and Brittany needed a place to crash for a night. I decided to use my HotelTonight credits to find us a hotel that wasn’t too shabby in the Ft. Lauderdale area knowing we’d have quite a few to choose from. We hoped we made the right choice with the Pelican Grand Beach Resort because it looked beautiful and the ratings were wonderful. When we drove up to the door we knew we’d made a great decision because the hotel was breathtaking, directly on the beach and the staff was pleased to see us.
We certainly weren’t looking for a party destination as we knew we’d be partying for 5 days over the next week so really we wanted to relax. We were upgraded from a regular room to a beautiful suite which consisted or a room with two beds and then another room separated by a glass wall with blinds which was set up as a living room. Jessica and I took the beds and Brittany took the living room for sleeping. We all shared the view. Oh yes, the view. The gorgeous beach that spanned on and on forever. We didn’t have a chance to go into the water, but we did enjoy sitting on the balcony and checking it out.
I may be getting ahead of myself though telling you about the room. The actual grandeur of the hotel is the outside. The architecture which I believe is Victorian is stunning and takes you back in time. I immediately told Brittany from ClumpsOfMascara.com, “I want to have my vow renewal here.” I could live in that hotel and invite friends over every single day just to be braggy about it.
Inside they had a restaurant for dinner called the Ocean 2000 and a breakfast and lunch restaurant called the Oceanfront Verandah and as always in-room dining. We unfortunately didn’t have a chance to try these out but did want you to know that if you wanted a weekend getaway there are dining options on site. Even better, they have an ice cream parlor and coffee emporium called The Emporium. I had some ice cream and it was delicious and the girl working was great company. The staff in general was just delightful.
Probably one of the biggest draws to this hotel is the lazy river at the pool. No need to visit the water park for that relaxing float ride. Grab a tube and jump right in. Of course you have the pool as well. But when you are at the beach do you really want to play in the pool? This hotel offers free chairs at the beach which doesn’t always happen so that’s a great plus. Let a pool boy bring you a Pina Colada and just lay back and read a book.
Unfortunately Brittany, Jessica and I didn’t have a lot of free time at the Pelican Grand Beach Resort Ft. Lauderdale. What we did though was stay up late talking, especially Jessica from MommyHasALife.com and me. Sometimes girls need that type of past time to unwind. We talked about our lives and our memories and how much fun we’d have on the cruise. We enjoyed the gorgeous room with the comfortable beds and soft pillows and the sounds of the ocean.
