Lake Buena Vista Resort Village & Spa
Cooped up kids equal one crazy mom. Jason and Spencer hadn’t been blessed with a vacation this summer and although we do a lot of light traveling throughout the year, they were definitely stir crazy. I put a call out to my contacts around Orlando and the staySky Lake Buena Vista Resort Village & Spa said they’d really like for us to come back and visit after so many years away. I invited Minet and her two kids to join us because we were given a two bedroom suite. That way Jason had a friend to play with and so did Spencer and I of course had a girlfriend to relax with since Tim couldn’t come along due to work.
Let me just lay it down right here. The condo suites at this hotel are nicer than any NYC apartment I’ve ever lived inside. And I had a big NYC apartment because I got lucky. Or anyone I know has had and nicer than any other apartment I’ve basically ever had. But these are just so beautifully decorated and roomy and more amazing. Okay read on, sorry for that interruption.
Reserve a condo and it will include a kitchen which is fully stocked so you can bring your own groceries. This is so important to me, I am not a fan of fast food and find myself defaulting this way when on vacation. But instead Minet and I did breakfast and lunch in the room and dinners out. There is a large dining room table so everyone has a place to sit.
We had a two bedroom suite at Lake Buena Vista Resort. The master bedroom, along with the typical king bed, also includes a Jacuzzi bathtub which all the kids loved taking a turn in. Minet and I decided to leave it alone because there is no door to the bathroom. This is actually an important point to mention in case you decide to travel with someone you aren’t 100% comfortable with. The master bedroom has an open bathroom plan as you can see in the pictures. It also includes a nice roomy shower!
The second bedroom is simple with two full size beds and a big screen TV. Not much to be mentioned. The bathroom is separate and includes a shower/tub combo.
The living room has a pullout couch which gave Minet’s daughter Hannah a place to sleep so she didn’t have to share with the three boys. It was quite comfortable and she had zero complaints. She shared the room with a gigantic television and this made her happy because she watches a lot of PBS Kids.
As I keep mentioning the rooms at Lake Buena Vista Resorts are condo style suites which means you don’t have housekeeping. You have a dishwasher and a washer/dryer. You are able to pay extra for housekeeping services which you can ask about during check. I would have paid extra for more towels since I wasn’t prepared with detergent but instead we just made it work. So I’m giving you the heads up to pack some of those pods!
The main reason we took the Lake Buena Vista Resorts up on the invitation was for the Pirates Plunge themed pool. It’s so incredibly awesome. I promise not to make any pirate puns, though it’s hard and I want credit for restraining myself. This pool has a huge pirate ship smack in the middle encasing a long tube slide. Yep. Hours of fun. And that doesn’t even include the waterfall umbrellas in the shallow part of the zero entry pool. The most fun I saw the kids (not just my kids) having though was taking the short chairs into the water and lounging like the adults. Probably because it seems like you shouldn’t be allowed to have chairs in the pool but yet you can.
Lani’s Luau had great snacks and the kids constantly wanted more. The nachos were so big and could be shared among my 3 person family to hold us over between lunch and dinner. So good, so so good. Although we didn’t have breakfast at Lani’s I do want to mention that they have breakfast everyday with offerings like cinnamon rolls, breakfast sandwiches, bagels and more. There are two other restaurants on site one being a Pizza Hut express and the other Frankie Farrel’s Irish Pub and Grille. Frankie’s has a crazy amount of beers on tap, 32 I believe, and their food is affordable in comparison to the restaurants in the area. I haven’t had a chance to try it out so I can’t speak to the quality but I can say it’s been there a long time and that is always a plus in the tourist district!
For Kids Only
There is also a staySky kid’s club for guests. They have a game area in the lobby that was always busy with families lounging while their little ones colored or made simple crafts. Out by the pool their are activities going on throughout the days. At one point Spencer and Hannah had the chance to pet an alligator. Chris and Jason wished they moved their butts faster that morning to get downstairs. Later in the day they could decorate a foam visor for a $5 fee. On certain evenings they have a movie night by the pool as well.
Our family and Minet’s family enjoyed our stay at the Lake Buena Vista Resort Village & Spa very much. The pool was our biggest draw but having a condo style room where we could all spread out and do our own thing and then come together to share a meal was a great feature. The ability to cook a meal in our own kitchen can be a huge help financially to a family traveling on a budget. The extra steps the staySky brand takes to entertain children gives parents the ability take one more breath of fresh air knowing things will run smoothly for all involved. The Lake Buena Vista Resort Village & Spa is a great place to enjoy your Disney area vacation.
Keep your eyes open, I have another post coming up telling you all about the Reflections Spa-Salon. One lucky little boy and one lucky little girl got quite the makeovers. They’re called Princess Makeovers and Pirate Takeovers. You have to see them to believe them 😉
