Spencer and Jason used to fight all the time over our Nintendo 3DS but recently we received the Nintendo 3DS XL. It’s actually opened up a world of play for Spencer with new games and especially Pokemon fun. A few weeks ago he sat down in order to perform, if you will, an unboxing and I’ve included it up top. This Nintendo 3DS XL unboxing video is pretty thorough and since it’s Spencer, it’s entertaining. You should check it out.
He’s been playing the Pokemon Alpha Sapphire game non-stop wherever we go. It’s different than regular Pokemon Go, trust me. It even has different characters. But you do catch Pokemon and Spencer gets equally as excited and equally as frustrated while playing it. He also plays his New Super Mario Bros 2 game once in a while but admittedly Tim is checking that one out a bit more.
Nintendo 3DS XL Screen And Size
The Nintendo 3DS XL has a bigger screen than its predecessor but it is a bit heavier. Our family has tiny hands so a big game console like this can be tricky. Spencer hasn’t complained so I’m not going to give it a ding. Honestly I can’t think of any real dings. How huge it is seems dingy to me but he says no.
He can watch Netflix on the Nintendo 3DS XL which is a huge plus. Spencer says the 3DS XL doesn’t seem to have as much glare as the previous 3DS. Since he can watch 220 episodes of Kickin It in a row this is great news. Oh, and since the 3DS XL has a large 3D screen the 3d looks even better for gaming. Even though we loved the original 3DS gaming system I always noticed the 3D seemed small and a bit blurry. Just having a bigger screen has helped that so much.
The Nintendo 3DS XL has been a great gaming system for Spencer. Jason and Tim have played with it a bit as well. Apparently there is even more to explore, for example something called amiibo which Spencer can’t wait to play with. I guess we’ll wait for Christmas for that extra.
*I received this product in return for my review. As always I was honest. 😉
