This week’s bride is Sara Phillips. She is wearing Alfred Angelo dress 8535. This is a unique gown with a detachable bottom skirt which is a newer in demand fashion. So often I hear brides saying they want a “reception dress” and this gown is double duty. Why anyone would want to change out of their beautiful wedding gown is beyond me but I try to stay open minded. And like I mentioned before, this allows you to stay in your gown by only removing the bottom piece.
Sara loves her family and spends as much free time with them as she can. She and I both have a love for geocaching. If you don’t know what it is look it up! She’s from Texas so she likes boots, that’s where our similarities end. Like many of the women who take part in this program she loves to cook. I don’t know what it is about trying on wedding gowns and cooking delicious food that goes hand in hand. I say this because just yesterday I accused her of keeping me from fitting into my gown. Something about an Ooey Gooey Snickers Cake you can click on Sensibly Sara which is her blog to get the recipe.
Let’s see what Sara had to say:
First tell me a little about Sara. What makes you, you?
What makes me, me … that’s a tough question! I’m a mom to two boys (10 and 6), wife and blogger. I enjoy traveling, photography, cooking/baking and spending time with my family. I pride myself on being creative and hard working.
Are you currently married? If so for how long?
Yes – my husband and I will celebrate our 12th wedding anniversary in April!
Would you consider renewing your vows(If not tell me why and ignore the next question)?
ABSOLUTELY! I always wanted to renew our vows for our 10th anniversary but that didn’t happen. Now I’d really like to renew them on our 15th or 20th anniversary … or the next time we go to Disney!
If so, how would your vow renewal differ from your wedding?
Our first wedding was SO small – 15 attendees (including my husband and I). I’d want our vow renewal to be bigger with lots of friends and family … unless, of course, we did it at Disney.
Why did you choose the dress you are wearing in this picture?
I’d tried on about 6 dresses and asked if I could try on something ‘unique and/or weird’ – this is what she brought. While I probably wouldn’t pick this dress for myself, I love that the bottom comes off (VERY easily) so you can have a ceremony gown and then a reception dress.
Why did you agree to take part in the Real Women/Real Brides campaign?
I thought it sounded like an absolute blast! My wedding gown was a hand-me-down so I didn’t get to try on dresses. I feel like participating in the Real Women/Real Brides campaign gave me a chance to take part in an experience I missed out on without the stress of picking out a gown that fit my budget.
How did you feel when you took part?
I felt SO PRETTY – like such a princess!! I texted a picture of myself to my husband and he told me how much he liked to see me smile ‘like that.’
A huge thanks goes out to Sara for participating in the Alfred Angelo Real Women/Real Brides program.
