Have you always wanted to catch Mardi Gras beads but never had the chance to head to Louisiana? Purchase a ticket to Universal Mardi Gras which takes place every night until March 25th and you’ll have the chance to catch beads off all their new parade floats!
Universal Mardi Gras Parade Floats
- Manticore’s Majesty
- The Rise of the Garuda
- The Dance of the Dragon
- Phoenix from the Flames
- Garden Sprites
- The Flight of the Pegasus
Each is gigantic and colorful, simply spectacular. The characters on the float wear costumes equally as fantastic that seems to be woven with rainbows and intricate design perfect for their float theme. Whether you are an adult grabbing a tasty alcoholic drink to party with, or a family with small children everyone will enjoy watching the parade. You need to grab an area to view this parade early because the streets fill up quickly. Also beware of flying beads. So many beads and if they hit you wrong they hurt. But it is so fun catching party beads off the Mardi Gras floats so don’t miss your chance!
If you do have a child I recommend the Little Jester parade viewing area created just for kids. It’s located outside of the Brown Derby Hat Shop and it’s just for little ones. This is an idea with which I can get on board. Now lets get a short person viewing area, no one over 5′ 4″ allowed!
Cajun Cooking Universal Style
One of the main reasons guests visit Universal Orlando Mardi Gras is the food. N’awlins cooking at its finest offered up all in one place. I’m personally a huge shrimp gumbo fan, which is funny because I don’t particularly love shrimp. I also love Universal Studio’s red beans and rice. I ate so much of it at the recent press event my husband had to tell me it was time to stop. There are other favorite dishes like spicy jambalaya, beignets and king cakes.
Universal Mardi Gras Concert Lineup
Some will agree the concert lineup is the best thing about the Orlando Mardi Gras event. Every year the best in music show up for some rockin good times! On Saturday and select Sunday nights each week musicians like X Ambassadors, Olivia Newton John and The All American Rejects will entertain you for a long enough set to make it worth the ticket price. I was invited to watch the Fifth Harmony concert and those girls worked so hard. They are apparently quite popular with young girls and the concert area was completely packed as was surrounding areas. They’re famous for songs like Work From Home where they sing “Work work work work work work” it was fun! Check out the entire Universal Orlando Mardi Gras concert lineup here! But if you are taking my advice about getting a seat early for the parade, you really need to get there early for the concert if you want a seat on the front part of the lawn. Hours early. If you love the band enough you may even choose to just camp out for the day with friends.
Universal Mardi Gras isn’t just about the above entertainment but also street performances. You can catch dancers on stilts, brass bands and all sorts of fun in French Quarter Courtyard. The amount of fun you can have when you pair all I’ve told you about with the everyday fun of Universal Studios theme park far outweighs the ticket price. I recommend getting there early and staying late. Take a few breaks and sit so you can relax. And come back so you can tell me all about your visit!
